The birth of a baby must be registered at your local Registry Office within 42 days of the birth – check your phone book for the address.

Who Can Register Baby’s Birth?
If baby’s parents are married then either parent can formally register the birth. If the parents are not married and the father wants his details on the baby’s birth certificate, he must be present at the registration along with the mother. In the event that the father is unable to attend and he wants his name on the certificate, he must make a statutory decalration on a form that is available from the Registrar. Get the form before hand as the mother must take the form with her. If neither parent is able to register the birth within the 42 days, the person who is responsible for the child can do so.
