The Registrar will probably be present on certain days if you gave birth in hospital. If not, you can find the adreess of the local Registrar of Births, Marriages, and Deaths in your phone book.
Who Can Register Baby’s Birth?
- Either parent if the parents are married, or the mother if not. If the parents are not married and the father wants his details to be included on the Birth Certifictae, he must attend with the mother at the registration and both can sign the register.
- Anyone having a legal charge over the baby
- Anybody present at the birth
- The baby’s Grandmother, Grandfather, Uncle or Auntie.
What Information Is Required?
- Baby’s full name
- The full name of the mother and father – if the parents are married, or, if not, if the father attends.
- Date and place of birth
- the parents’ addresses and occupations.
